Happy Thanksgiving and Thank Goodness for Stouts!!! It's almost winter time and (yes we are a little behind schedule) but I wanted to brew something a little heavier for the holidays. Plus my folks were in town from back east and my mom and dad wanted to see the Brutus it action!!
Didn't know where we were going when we started but during the boil did some reading about Milk Stouts and thought it sounded good... and if a Milk Stout dounds good a Chocolate Milk Stout would be twice as good!!! About 1 cups of non-sweet cocoa powder and 1 pound of lactose and boom... Chahhty Mutt Stout was born.
FWI Chahhty (pronounced "Ch - ahhhh ---tee") Muut ( you'll have to figure that one out on your own... but it sort of sounds like your derriere!!) is what Sophie calls Chocolate Milk!
For the second side I pitched it with 2 vanilla beans in secondary. Not sure if it is going to be enough for 5 gallons of beer ... may have to give it a little bump with some extract later on ... we'll see!
