About
We were going to start a commercial brewery... wrote a business plan, priced equipment, got some financing together, created a niche concept, started talking to distributors... then we realized we didn't really know how to make beer! So... we decided to scale it back, build a Brutus 10 and see where it leads... and have a few tasty suds along the way of course.
My name is Rob... I've been brewing beer since about 1990 ... off and on... mostly extracts, and usually clones. Got my first brew kit from Williams Brewing and I still have the system... still even use some of the equipment (hydrometer, racking cane, etc.). Always bottled my beer (what a pain in the ass that is!) Then stepped it up to these little mini kegs fed by little CO2 cartridges called Tap-A-Draft's. Much easier than bottles but you had to drink 1.25 gallons pretty quick or the beer would start to go flat! Long story short ... all grain and corny's and I'm in heaven!

I have always liked using fresh ingredients on the barbecue and when a friend mentioned he brewed his own beer, it piqued my interest. A trip to his garage and six hours of watching him through the process and I knew I had to give it a shot. While talking to Rob, I shared my brew lesson and he mentioned he dabbles with extracts. We fired up his stove and made our first batch from an extract but knew we could do better. We found an old rusted plant stand on craigslist and through trials and tribulations, Trouble Brewing was born. When not surfing or chasing the kids around, I'm usually in the garage thinking of what to brew next.
